The Miss Savannah Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant is a celebration of Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in African American history. This event showcases young African American women who compete in categories such as evening wear, talent, and interview. What sets this pageant apart is its emphasis on honoring the cultural and historical significance of Juneteenth, while also recognizing the achievements and contributions of African Americans.
In addition to the competition, the program offers a comprehensive training experience designed to prepare contestants for the pageant and for future academic and professional pursuits. This structured program is focused on helping participants develop essential skills, gain valuable knowledge, and build confidence, empowering them to succeed both in the pageant and beyond.
Contestants may receive coaching on personal development, which includes building self-confidence, effective communication, and public speaking skills. They may also work on their posture, body language, and stage presence.
A significant part of pageants involves interviews with judges. Contestants will likely undergo interview coaching to learn how to answer questions effectively, showcase their personality, and convey their passion for the platform they represent.
The pageant includes a talent portion, contestants may receive coaching and guidance to refine their talents, whether it's singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or any other talent they plan to showcase.
Contestants will be judged on their fashion sense, including evening wear and swimwear. They may receive guidance on choosing the right outfits, wardrobe styling, and overall fashion presentation.
This pageant places importance on community service and involvement. Contestants will participate in volunteer activities and develop a platform or cause they are passionate about.
Contestants will learn proper etiquette for various situations, such as interacting with judges, fellow contestants, and the audience.
In today's digital age, contestants will receive guidance on managing their public image, including social media presence and public relations.
Preparing for the beauty aspects of the pageant, contestants may receive training on hair styling and makeup application.
We are thrilled to introduce Innovative Queens: A Journey in STEAM, an inspiring new program facilitated by the Chosen For the Arts (CFTA) in partnership with the Miss Savannah Juneteenth Pageant. Designed to ignite interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM), this program empowers young African American girls in our community with the skills and insights they need to imagine futures full of possibility and achievement in these fields.
2025 events will include site tours, trip to Washington, DC, Beaufort, SC, formal Gala, Tea Party, Brunch, 7 sessions presented by our sponsors and leaders in our community, and so much more.
The pageant serves as a platform to honor the legacy of Juneteenth and promote pride and awareness within African American communities. It also highlights the achievements and aspirations of young African American women.
